Hey Bonnie! Glad you like It's You. That's the only song we've recorded though, since we had
to get that one finished and out to the DJs in a hurry. We've got plans on recording more over the
winter, so we'll let you know when it's about to escape.......I mean be released! LOL! Send me an
email to mxteam44@charter.net and I'll send you a link to where you can download the mp3 file of
It's You to your Ipod or computer. They probably don't want me posting website links here, so
that'll be the best way to do it I think. Hope you guys have a great Christmas!!! I know I'm looking
forward to it!!!
Take care!!!!

A very Merry Christmas to The SURF folks! Ted, Ray and Billy spin the best tunes - ever! Taryn is the sweet
(Tarheel!!) who tries to keep 'em all straight. Harvey brings us the best talent and music.

I'd
also like to wish all the musicians a Merry Christmas. Without you, we wouldn't have the enjoyable music
that soothes our souls and moves our soles.

Merry Christmas to all who contribute to this board. It's
always interesting to read what you have to say.

Biggrin Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to the entire staff at 94.9 The Surf! The greatest radio station on
earth by far. Billy, Ted and Ray play the music that has survived the test of time and the new beach music
hits. May all the avid listeners of this station have a great holiday season also.

I also want to wish all the staff at The Surf a wonderful holiday season! They do so much for us throughout
the year by bringing us the great music that we all love. I want to wish a Merry Christmas to all the bands
that record and perform for their fans. If it weren't for them, there would be no Surf. Merry Christmas
to everyone that listens to and loves the Surf. It is a special time of year for those special people that
share the bond of loving the culture of beach music and shagging.

Then people did try
to buy the votes Ken. I heard it was Coasline people and no real proof of an "industry tie" really
needs to be shown to be a nominating member does it?
Just reporting what I heard. Do I believe that it
happened?...Well....you heard about it too...I don`t know.
Thanks for your comment.

No I definiely didn't do that. I just thought the idea was funny. If you look back at past winners at
the CBMA web site you will see that Coastline really hasn't ever had the success that they enjoyed this
year. I think the most they won in one year was four and that was the year they released "Contents under
Pressure". There have been other bands that "dominated" a year and it always coincided with the
release of new material. I would guess that the most award winning band year after year is The Fantastic
Shakers. Bo and the band work really hard and he is an icon in this market. There were a few instances of
people trying to buy the vote in the past, but it never worked. That is why there is a Beach Music Academy
now. That is the CBMA Boards way of trying to keep everything on the up and up. It still is a popularity
contest like any awards show and I for one am impressed with the way it works. Nominations are made by
industry professionals ,and fan members get to vote for the winners. Up until this year it has been quite a
dry spell for Coastline with only about two awards in the past 5 years. It just happened to be their year.
Have a Merry Christmas!

record better songs, sing better songs, write better songs, perform better songs, work harder and promo moreWink
Most bands out here can do 1 or 2 of these things better than Jim Quick, but not many can do as many things
especially the hard work and until they do Coastline will always be rewarded in some way.Just get more
fans(not so easy)!!!!!

Something like awhile back a CBMA ticket holder could vote. The Coastline promoter and people bought a
majority of tickets and skewed the vote to get the band a bunch of Cammys.

Im not sure how many people know about this, but a famous national christian rap group, DC TALK"
actually recorded Jackie Gores song, I Love Beach Music changing the words & title to I Love Jesus a few
years back. Jackie received a DOVE AWARD for the song which in Christian Music is equal to a GRAMMY or an
OSCAR. Its for real...Ive seen and held the award at Jackies house.....JD Cash

The main difference in the award process between the Grammies and the CBMA is that the Grammies use a SELECT
Nominating Committee from within the industry made up with Industry Professionals & Producers such as
Quincy Jones, etc. to decide what and who is nominated. The public is not allowed to vote in the Grammy
process. They base their decisions on Sales, Airplay, Chart Position & Production, etc. The CMBA uses more
of a PEOPLES CHOICE process to decide their winners....JD Cash

hey Rob DEE. It seems that you don't remember a controversy. because if you did you would tell us
about
it instead of asking J D to tell us about so if you don't have the facts about something then keep
your
small thoughts to your self.

Ha! there was a controversy alright. JD knows but won`t step into that
buzz saw.
It really doesn`t matter to me anyway. Maybe to you it does but I`m just enjoying the SURF and this
music!

Rob Dee, Im not the person to answer questions about the CBMA as Im not a part of their organization. I have
performed at 3 of their shows and received some awards but Im not sure how they arrive at their decisions. I
was with the Original Beach Music Awards from 82 to 87. We did our awards much like the GRAMMYS do theirs but
our real focus was filming a National Quality TV Show for syndication. I commend the CMBA for working to keep
the music alive and bringing a wonderful event to Myrtle Beach every year. It is a HUGE JOB !

Hi Billy Ray, Alot of the older established Beach Bands, Not just Coastline, have added alot of SHAG Music at
their shows to accomidate the hard core Shaggers & SHAG CLUB DJs in an effort to have more venues to play.
There are just not as many Beach Clubs as there were in the 70s. There are a Few Bands who have stuck to their
sound & style such as The Chairmen Of The Board, Jackie Gore, The Tams, etc. The real problem with The Old
Shag music is that it doesnt really appeal to a younger audience the way that Real Beach Music by General
Johnson does. The energy level just isnt there and the music will eventially die if we dont start catering to
a younger audience. SOS in NMB every year is a wonderful event and Im very happy that the bands are now a huge
part of it. 20 years ago you didnt see many Bands at SOS. SOS draws about 10 to 12 thousand people who pay
$35. each for their cards which is good for spring and fall. On the other hand as example of what Real Beach
Music can draw, Remember a few years ago when 25,000 Beach Music Fans would travel To the Emerald Isle Beach
Blast and pay $25 to $35. dollars each to Party, NOT DANCE! The Young People Love to Party and the promoters
make close to a MILLION DOLLARS in 6 HRs including the sponsership money they receive. The Beach Blasts such
as The Triagle Beach Blast are the Key to keeping the Young People Interested. I believe we can hook the Young
Crowd with the same music that hooked us many moons ago. SOS is now finally bringing in TOP ENTERTAIMENT to
events such as FUN MONDAY which makes it so much better. All the Clubs are running the Top Bands Nightly
during SOS which means the Bands at SOS have to adapt to the crowds they are playing for. When I co-produced
THE BAD BOYS OF BEACH MUSIC CDs in 1999, I captioned it The Best OF Beach, Boogie & Blues with the hope it
would appeal to the Beach Music Lover as Well As The Shaggers, Something For Everyone !There is strength in
Numbers and if the Beach Music Lovers and Shaggers would COME TOGETHER, It could make a Big difference in the
FUTURE of Beach Music...UNITED WE STAND - DIVIDED WE FALL!
