I just found this channel recently and LOVE it. I grew up in Raleigh and most of these songs were always on WKIX . Now I live far away, but listening to 94.9 The Surf brings back lots of memories, Thanks, I would also like to know the schedule that I can tune in on the web. Thanks,Terry |

Marc, did you contact them at the address they gave? Did you do what they requested so you can be reinstated? I don't think you've been accused of anything. They apologized for any inconvenince you may have been caused, so please, don't start bashing the station. It's good that they are monitoring it though, as there were, obviously, some things going on that caught their attention. |

So how long before you decide something? You must understand if I was dishonest I wouldn't be asking I would just create another account and go on...
You really do need to understand that a lot of us are not trying to defeat your rules, but by 'labeling' us as cheaters is just plain wrong.
You are turning a lot of us against this site, you folks really do need to grow up. |

Last week, in monitoring the voting, we noticed some strange voting patterns which indicated duplicate voting. If you feel that your user id has been unfairly please email us at voting@949thesurf.com with your user id and email address and I will see what we can do to get it reinstated. We certainly do not want to eliminate legitimate voters!
I apologize for the inconvenience to some people who were honest and voted only once. Please understand that we are working hard to keep the Top 40 a once person, one vote system.
Thank you! |

Why am I being locked out of voting? Can someone please explain to me why I was 'disqualified'?
What did I do? If I have broken some rule please tell me, but honestly now, this is totally uncalled for - I've done nothing wrong.

I am only one DJ with my own opinion, however " Mamas Drinkin Liquor Again " is absolutely the most requested song I have. I predict it will be The Song Of The Year. I do not really classify it as a beach music song. Its much bigger than that as it has mass appeal for all audiences and will probally be the biggest hit to date for Jim Quick. The same thing goes for The Cupid Shuffle which is my #2 most requested song. Both of these tunes as well as most Beach Music fall under the Adult Contemparary Catagory. |

Beach Music Industry. In the past I have noticed songs in the Top 5 that I have never heard of or had any
requests for.
It sure is messed up now JD. Mark Brooke got 4 of his songs on there that have never charted CWB got a bunch that nobody plays. Drinkin` Licker down at the bottom... |

I was very pleased to see the new notice on the Voting Page concerning the voting process. Bands that vote for themselves over & over again using different screen names in order to control the charts are hurting the Beach Music Industry. In the past I have noticed songs in the Top 5 that I have never heard of or had any requests for. I am happy to see that the management at the Surf is aware of this problem. Keep up the good work. In the end The Cream Will Always Rise To The Top. |

Thanks James. If someone gets upset over a radio advertisement, all they have to do is visit me in Atlanta, and I'll show them things that will turn them inside-out. Perhaps they'll gain a little perspective of the "big picture". |

Dale, you know I love you guys and wish you the best. Looks like you're doing well. Don't worry about riling anyone up. There are always going to be pertpetually high-strung people out there, and you can't do anything about it except to go on.

I have to agree with Barbara on this "Crazy Horse" issue. I am fairly cetain the Surf's management, sales staff, DJ's, etc. are more than capable of deciding what is "beneath them." What's next? I can see someone else coming along and saying "the Surf shouldn't be playing that nasty old Sixty Minute Man or One Mint Julep! They're all about...you know! I don't think they should play anything but all 97,418 versions of Over the Rainbow!!!"
Seriously, with advertising being the life blood of any media outlet, it allows the the Surf to provide their listeners a FREE website, webcast of their station, T-shirts, deck parties and so on. I highly doubt it's free for them. Being from North Carolina, I am a long time fan of Beach Music (and Billy Smith)and let me tell ya, there ain't a lot of Beach Music out here in the desert. The Surf provides a taste of home and I appreciate their efforts. I used to listen to the the webcast of the Oldies and Beach station in Elizabethtown and I understand that Web listener complaints (most of them trival) were one of the reasons it was taken off of the web. I would hate to see that happen here.
I know it may sound trite, and I'm not trying to dissuade anyone from listening to the Surf, but anything offensive takes just a turn of the dial (or in my case, a click of the mouse) to make it go away. Just my $0.002.

There is also the choice of not listening to something that offends. This isn't a Sunday school venue. Again, stations depend on advertising dollars in an effort to stay in business so you can enjoy them. |

The Crazy Horse isn't exactly a "public venue". Don't you have to either have a membership or choose to visit the establishment? While we all may not agree on activities, people do have a right to make their choices. I'd rather people be working for a living (whatever it may be) than sitting around for a hand-out on my tax dollars. |

Thanks for you comment Wendy! There was a time when at least some degree of shame was associated with the displaying of undignified behavior in a public venue. Whatever insults human dignity, such as subhuman living conditions, arbitrary imprisonment, slavery, prostitution, the selling of women and children; as well as disgraceful working conditions, where men are treated as mere tools for profit, rather than as free and responsible persons; all these things and others of their like are infamies indeed. They poison human society, but they do more harm to those who practice them than those who suffer from the injury. |

I"m sure there are some that don't like ads for the Crazy Horse, but remember, the Surf needs advertising dollars in order for us to be able to listen to them. Sometimes, you can't pick and choose. It's not like you're having to visit the place. |

I agree with the comment Wendy made with regard to
the advertisements for the "Crazy Horse" being played on The Surf. I feel they are beneath "The Surf". Otherwise, I love everything else about "The Surf"! |

Billy Ray, now don't get mad, but this is a good forum in which to promote songs. Bands are always
promoting themselves in whatever way possible. That's business, period. They promote themselves by
appearing at various events and notifying us of when latest CDs are coming out. What better place to do that
than a forum such as this?
Hey Barb...thats fine. What I was talking about is posting links to their site, spamming their stuff with pals promoting and hawking their songs on here. Not listeners complimenting or commenting on the music or bands. Thats all. |

People will vote how they will, whether it's a personality they like or song they like. I love the famous, familiar beach bands we've enjoyed over the decades, and I'm going to take this opportunity to promote two of my new favorites, the Hot-Dog Daddy O's and 58 West, so there you have it. |
