Ocean Drive will soon be jamming again…it’s time for DJ Throwdown! This marks the 17th year that DJs from all over the country have come together at Ducks and Ducks Too on Main Street for three great days of camaraderie, entertainment, networking, and learning.
The Association of Beach and Shag Club DJs, an organization that began in 1984 and is comprised of over 300 members interested in the preservation of beach and shag music, founded DJ Throwdown in 1992. Always scheduled the first weekend in March, this year the dates are February 28, 29 (yes, it’s Leap Year!) and March 1.
In 1993 it was decided to begin the weekend with bands on Thursday night, so on Thursday, February 28 the weekend kicks off at 7:30 P.M. at Duck’s with Band of Oz, Debbie Davies, and the Fantastic Shakers. There is a $10.00 cover charge for the evening.
Friday and Saturday over 70 DJs will share the stage to the delight of everyone who can dance and mingle as long as they desire. No doubt there will be new music introduced as well as computer classes for the DJs to hone their skills. A reverse raffle with a Grand Prize of $6,000 is offered with the drawing to be held at midnight on Saturday. |
