Vanna in Charleston

Vanna White, Pat Sajak, and the entire staff of WHEEL OF FORTUNE were in Charleston, South Carolina the weekend of January 12 – 14 to tape upcoming episodes of the popular game show. A contingency of local residents attended the taping on Sunday. The North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce organized the trip, which included 2 chartered buses and box lunches.

Local residents are aware that North Myrtle Beach is Vanna’s hometown. She is a 1975 graduate of North Myrtle Beach High School. Although she has been in Hollywood for over 20 years, she still considers the beach her hometown and actually owns an oceanfront condominium at Ocean Drive. She sees her family and friends several times a year when she visits.

The shows are named “Vanna Comes Home” and will include footage of local people and places when aired in February. Scenes of shaggers dancing at the Ocean Drive Pavilion, diners at Hoskins Restaurant, and Mayor Marilyn Hatley presenting Vanna a key to the city will be showcased. The national publicity of our area is an added benefit. No amount of advertising could compare to this exposure.

The shows will air February 19 – 22. I can see Vanna turning the letters “P-A-R-A-D-I-S-E”, can’t you?
