Grand Marshall Contest Winner! 

JD Cash, dubbed the “Sinatra of Beach Music,” was the winner of the 5th Annual SOS Mystery Grand Marshall contest. JD correctly guessed popular djs Murl Augustine, Gary Bass, and Ray Scott. JD will ride in a limousine by Extreme Limo in the SOS parade on Saturday, April 28. The package also included a weekend at Caravelle Resort, $150 shopping spree at Bass Pro Shop, 2 rounds of golf (including cart) from Sandpiper Bay, and a gift certificate from The Shoe Center.

After 15 days of clues from Don David, SOS Parade Chairman, we knew it was 3 people (“Three Musketeers” was a clue), and that they were likely djs (from the clues “Shag Time,” “Our Time,” “DJ Throwdown,” “SOS,” and “Midwinter”). The clue on Friday, April 20 was the clincher, and one had to put the pieces together:

“Wild Thang” is the nickname of Murl Augustine a dj from New Ellington, SC.

“Soothe You” refers to Gary Bass who recorded “Soothe Me” in 1989.

“Club Savoy” connects to Ray Scott who sang the song with Sea Cruz on their Maiden Voyage cd.

So there it is…looking back, the clues were there. It’s much easier being a Monday morning quarterback! Yes indeed, hindsight is 20/20!
