Paws Across the WaterCALLING ALL QUACKERS! CALLING ALL QUACKERS! The 3rd Annual Paws Across The Water duck race is scheduled for Saturday, September 8 at Barefoot Landing in North Myrtle Beach at 12:00 noon. This is a major fundraiser to benefit the North Myrtle Beach Humane Society. Those wishing to participate buy and “adopt” rubber ducks that are dropped into the Intracoastal Waterway. Last year there were 10,000 ducks that bobbled across the water
Paige Latta who received a $1,699 credit to Coastal Cycles and Scooters adopted the duck that won. This year the 1st prize is a new HotSpring HotSpot Mallorca spa. Other prizes include weekend getaways to Maggie Valley, NC and Hammock Beach, Florida, sports lovers package valued at $1,000, dinner and show package valued at $500 and at least 20 other prizes. Ducks may be purchased/adopted for $5.00 each, $25.00 for a Quack Pack, $50.00 for a Flock (12 ducks) or $400.00 for a Big Duck. The Humane Society of North Myrtle Beach is dedicated to finding loving homes for abandoned animals, providing first-rate care for the animals through experienced and local veterinarians, offering low-price spay and neuter programs for dogs and cats, and teaching pet responsibility for pet owners.
