Update on Jr. SOS

Junior SOS 2007 has been deemed successful!

According to Keith Dallas, President of Junior Shag Association, 306 juniors and a total of 450 people were in attendance this year at some time from July 18 – 22. It was hard to tell who had the most fun…the kids or the adults! Keith adds that 99 couples participated in the competitions over the weekend. Workshops were full, and everyone behaved…quite a feat for 300-plus kids! The reception at 94.9 the Surf studio was a lot of fun, as kids got to record messages that were played on the air all weekend.

Sophie and Garrett Spencer, children of Carmen and Rusty Spencer of Raleigh, NC have been coming to Jr SOS for a few years. Sophie is 10 years old; and while she’s been in attendance a few times, was too shy to “participate” until this year. . She is a student at Friendship Christian School in Raleigh. “I have come before, but this year (2007) was the first time I have actively participated. I loved seeing other kids from last year and making new friends.” Sophie added, “the shag is not about competition …it’s just about having fun!”

Keith Dallas states, “We would like to thank all the sponsors and volunteers that made this week possible.
