MID-WINTER 2008

Shake off those wintertime blues! The Christmas tree has been thrown out, holiday decorations are packed away, and we need an excuse to work off the extra pounds that somehow found their way to our middles (HOW DID THAT HAPPEN???). Have no fear…North Myrtle Beach has its own cure…dance it off!

Mid-Winter Classic is one of three major events sponsored by SOS (Society of Stranders). Along with SOS Spring Safari and SOS Fall Migration, Mid-Winter offers an opportunity for beach music lovers and shag enthusiasts to gather together and enjoy their friendships and common interests.

Official dates for 2008 Mid-Winter are Thursday, January 17 – Sunday, January 20. Fat Harold’s Beach Club will be host to a kick-off party for early arrivers on Wednesday at 8 P.M. Beginning Thursday and continuing through the weekend, favorite Carolina Beach Music bands and DJs will fill the area clubs. In addition to this live entertainment, there will be dance workshops for all levels as well as individual shag club parties.

Admission is a 2008 SOS card, which can be purchased for $35.00. Booths will be set up at area clubs or you can download a form from the official SOS website (www.shagdance.com). This pass will be good for the other 2 major events (Spring Safari and Fall Migration) of 2008 as well.

Get out your bags and start packing! Whether you are a "regular" or have never before participated in SOS events, Mid-Winter offers a fun time for all! Don’t forget to bring your unused shag shoes by the Surf (429 Pine Avenue) to be donated to the Junior Shaggers.
