Cooter Douglas

Cooter Douglas

Cooter DouglasCooter Douglas is a funny man.

His dry wit and southern drawl only add to his unique style.

Just ask anyone who saw him at Comedy Cabana, Myrtle Beach’s 5-star comedy club, where he recently won their talent contest.

Cooter has been emceeing events such as the Grand Nationals Dance Contest in Atlanta for years. He had been told many times that he should be doing "stand-up", a term for comedy routines. He was also invited to be part of the entertainment line-up on a cruise organized by Domer Reeves of Reeves Travel and Cruise Center last year. He was such a hit he has been invited back this year. "Bringing Cooter on board was perfect. He just fit like a glove. Everyone loved him, and he brings his own group of friends as well," Domer said in a recent interview.

Comedy Cabana hosted a contest in May 2007 that Cooter attended. He decided to enter the one held in November and ended up the grand winner. Not bad for a first-time endeavor! He entertained the sold-out audience all the way to the #1 spot.

John Stephens saw his act at Comedy Cabana. "The best part about Cooter’s performance is that it is clean cut... no cussing or off-colored jokes like so many comedians. He looks and acts like a class act." John is looking forward to going on Domer’s cruise and laughing some more with Cooter.

Cooter doesn’t quite know where this road will lead him. He is enjoying learning the ropes of a new business, and is admittedly "having a ball." Many of you know Cooter from Duck’s and Dynamite’s. He loves living at the beach and says it would be ideal to work comedy from November through February, traditionally the slow economic time at the coast.

It may not be as widely known that in the early 90’s, prior to moving to the beach, Cooter did a comedy routine on the radio. Once a month he could be heard on the "Love and Hudson" show broadcasted on 102.5 in Greenville, South Carolina. This led to another stint on 93.7 (WFBC) where he was the morning man. He left the station when it changed from oldies format to alternative.

What lies ahead for Cooter is uncertain. What IS certain, however, is that he will continue to entertain us no matter what the venue. To catch a clip of his routine, go to www.travelwithdomer.com and scroll down to "Wanna see some Cooter?"
