Road To Myrtle BeachThe Grand Strand is blessed again with international coverage! THE GOLF CHANNEL has a new reality show based right here in our backyard. No, there won’t be contestants eating snakes or trying to survive in sub-human circumstances. The show will feature a golf foursome and their Myrtle Beach experience. Many know the Grand Strand as the "Golf Capital of the World". This is no secret. We have more "Top 100" golf courses than any other golf destination. Our climate, beautiful landscape, and plethora of courses combine to generate a very healthy golf economy. Myrtle Beach is also known for fine restaurants and a variety of entertainment venues. The show follows the golf group not only on the course, but also afterward to restaurants and other establishments. The show airs on Tuesday nights at 7:30 P.M. "Road Trip: Myrtle Beach" premiered on February 5 and showcased a round of golf at Caledonia Golf and Fish Club and dinner at Frank’s restaurant in Pawley’s Island. The reality show will debut with 12 episodes. The first four take place on the south end. Other than Caledonia, other courses featured will be Willbrook Plantation, Pawley’s Plantation, and Tradition Club. The remaining episodes will be filmed in the spring, aired in the fall, and will highlight other courses in the central and northern areas of the Grand Strand. The golf foursome consists of Charlie Rymer, former PGA Tour pro and current ESPN commentator, Mark Bryan from Hootie and the Blowfish, Josh Kelley, singer and songwriter, and Perry Swenson who plays on the Futures Tour. Course information and golf tips, along with their personal fun-hearted banter create a fun show for viewers. One thing is for sure…the exposure to our area will be phenomenal, with 110 million homes worldwide tuning in. Along with the recent Presidential debates that took place in Myrtle Beach, the resulting advertising is hard to calculate in actual dollars. Tune in, call your friends, and spread the word…Myrtle Beach is indeed on the map!
