Radiothon Update

Radiothon Recap

Many thanks to everyone who participated with us in the 2nd Annual Relay For Life Radiothon on March 19!

We were blessed with blue skies and balmy winds (much unlike last year), so everything could be set up outside the Surf studio. The tent was filled with delicious food from Logan’s. The American Cancer Society staffed a booth, accepting donations and handing out information on cancer and the important work that is going on in the fight against this disease. Many thanks to Jennifer Walters, Senior Community Manager from the Myrtle Beach office of the American Cancer Society, for her organization, staffing, and enthusiasm.

Local musicians Calabash Flash, Donny and Susan Trexler, "Precious" Jade, Tim Clark, Tommy Black, and Paul Craver stopped by and entertained everyone, including our Internet listeners. ("Precious" Jade was excited to learn that 94.9 the Surf has listeners from her home in Singapore and sent a "shout out" to them)!

Thank you to the staff and volunteers at the North Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce who accepted donations, as well as the Myrtle Beach office of the American Cancer Society.

A special note of gratitude goes to those cancer survivors who stopped by to share their message of hope. There are many success stories, due in great part to the research and services of the American Cancer Society.

To everyone who participated in the "Battle of the DJs", who called in, came by, or went online to make a donation, who dropped by to have your picture taken with the DJs, please know that your particular donation WILL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!!

If you missed the opportunity to make a donation Wednesday, you can still click on the logo on our home page to contribute. Don’t forget the Relay For Life event scheduled for May 2 at North Myrtle Beach High School!
