SANTA FE STATIONSay goodbye to yet another North Myrtle Beach landmark. Santa Fe Station, popular restaurant located on Highway 17 in North Myrtle Beach, is in the process of being torn down. Ed Cribb, local restaurant developer, bought the popular spot and is currently dismantling the two boxcars and caboose that locals and visitors alike have come to associate with Santa Fe Station. Blowtorches are being used to tear the signature train cars into sections, with the refuse being used as salvage metal.
Cribb, with the assistance of Carrell Homes and Carrell Commercial Construction, plans to build a new restaurant called Calico Jack’s Galley and Grub in its place. The menu will be similar to Santa Fe Station’s…seafood, steaks, sandwiches, ribs…something for everyone. Plans call for a grand opening in late summer or early fall. Cribb originally purchased Santa Fe Station in the early 80’s when it was known as the Side Car. It reopened as Santa Fe Station in 1982. There have been several owners in its time until he recently repurchased it. Many locals and visitors have enjoyed the ambiance, food, and spirits over the years at Santa Fe Station. They can tear down the structure, but memories live in the heart forever. Please visit our PHOTO GALLERY for pictures. |
